BSNL has launched three tablets with special data plans, manufactured by Pantel. These are BSNL Penta TPAD IS701R- It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, has a resistive type touch screen of 7" with an 800x400 px resolution, a 1GHz processor, 256MB DDRII RAM and 2GB of in-built memory which can be expandable upto 32GB with connectivity options of WiFi and 3G dongle support. And is priced at Rs 3,250 which makes it the main competitor of the Aakash tablet whose commercial version is also priced at Rs 3,000. This tablet has no any front or rear camera which lowers its competition over Aakash tablet.
Next is the BSNL Penta TPAD WS704 it has increasingly 512MB of RAM and it will also run the same OS as of BSNL Penta T PAD IS701R i.e, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will have 7'7" screen and Processor. And is priced at Rs 10,999. In addition it has a 2.0MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera, a HDMI port, a GPS, a G sensor and Bluetooth connectivity and WiFi and also support of 3G dongle. I will like to add about its design, this tablet looks like a slim brick ! Very bad design by the developers.
Now it comes the 3rd and the best and the costliest tablet of BSNL i.e, BSNL Penta TPAD WS802C. Which will have a 8" capacitive type touch screen which is far better than resistive touch screen, and will run on 1.2GHz processor with 512MB RAM and will have a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera and have same connectivity options as of BSNL Penta TPAD WS704. The plus point of this tablet is that it supports WCDMA (next generation GSM, don't misunderstand it as CDMA) and EVDO (next generation CDMA) 3G connectivity which will make the internet experience on this device very fast. About design it is somewhat slimmer than BSNL Penta TPAD WS704 but is 2x - 2.5x thicker than iPad 2 and is priced at Rs 13,250.
